Well, Gary finished off our summer carp campaign quite nicely, with a 19lb'er.
I even managed a fish myself, only a 12lb common, but it was good that we both caught, on what will probably be our last carp sortie of this year.
We fished the same swims as we had the last couple of visits, opposite the lakes central spit. It's where the fish were showing, and where the wind was blowing... blimey, I'm turning into a poet!
Gary started things off with a decent 'snottie' around midnight, I would have thought very close to double figures, but we didn't bother to weight it.
Later, and woken from my slumbers, I had the common about 2am, and not being a monster it was returned without having it's mugshot taken. And it was only when Gary turned up in the morning, wondering why the kettle wasn't on, that I found out he had a 'lump' resting in his net. Seems he had his run about 4am, and as I hadn't come staggering round, he assumed I was spark out and didn't bother me. Good lad!
Tea was made, the fish photographed and returned, tea was drunk.
So not a bad session, and not a bad campaign really. From the early Summer overnighters at Jerry's, to these more recent visits to our club water, we've had a fair number of 'twenties' between us, but haven't managed to get amongst the 'thirties'... looks like our target for next year has already been sorted then!
